Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 January 2026

These terms apply when you place an order with Omairi Kyoto. Please read them before you order. By placing an order, you agree to them.

1. What this service is

Omairi Kyoto is a cultural experience service. It is rooted in daisan — Japan's long tradition of visiting a shrine on someone else's behalf. You send us a wish; we travel to Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto, offer it following traditional etiquette, and document the visit for you.

Omairi Kyoto is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated in partnership with Fushimi Inari Taisha.

2. Orders and payment

We offer two options: Inori (49 USD) and Negai (99USD). Prices are in US dollars and are charged when you place your order. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never receive or store your card details.

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to place an order.

3. What you receive

  • Inori — one shrine visit made on your behalf, a small offering (osaisen) made in your name, five or more photographs from the visit, and a written report delivered by email.
  • Negai — everything included in Inori, plus an ema (wooden votive tablet) dedicated with your wish, a longer and more personal report, and a handwritten postcard sent to you from Kyoto.

Photographs are taken by us on the day of your visit. Weather, light, crowds and the condition of the shrine grounds vary, so no two sets of photographs are the same, and specific compositions cannot be promised.

4. Timing

The visit takes place within 7 business days of your order, for both Inori and Negai. Photographs and the written report follow by email after the visit. The Negai postcard is sent by international mail and typically arrives within 2–4 weeks.

Severe weather, shrine closures, restricted access, illness, transport disruption, postal delays, or other circumstances outside our control may delay a visit or a delivery. If that happens, we will contact you and agree a new date. Delivery timeframes are targets, not fixed commitments.

5. Your wish and your privacy

The content of your wish is treated as private information. We do not publish it, share it, or quote it in reports, postcards, marketing, or anywhere else. It is used only so that we can offer it at the shrine on your behalf, and — with Negai — write it on the ema. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.

6. Outcomes

What you are buying is the visit itself and the record of it: the offering made in your name, the photographs, and the report. We make no promise, claim, or assurance of any kind about what may follow from a wish being offered, and nothing on this site should be read as one. This is a cultural experience, not a religious, medical, financial, legal, or psychological service, and it is not a substitute for professional advice of any kind.

7. Acceptable use

We may decline or cancel an order, and refund it in full, if a wish is unlawful, threatens or harasses another person, or asks for something we are not willing to carry to the shrine. We may also decline orders we cannot fulfil for practical reasons.

8. Photographs and content

We retain copyright in the photographs and reports we produce. You may keep, print, and share them for your own personal, non-commercial use, including sharing them with the person you bought a gift for. Commercial use requires our written permission.

9. Liability

We provide this service with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud, or the statutory rights of consumers.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page when you place your order is the version that applies to that order.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute that cannot be resolved between us will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Kyoto District Court as the court of first instance. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.
